Commission on Aging

Commission is “responsible for studying the needs of elderly persons in the community relating to housing, health, recreation, transportation and acting as a liaison between the Senior Center and the community.”

• Counseling. Available on an outpatient basis.

Senior Center

Multi-service facility offers wide range of activities throughout the day to appeal to interests of persons age 62 and over and help to meet their needs.

Center’s offerings include: arts and crafts • cultural events • exercise • dancing • movies • travel • chorus • sports (bocce, pool, shuffleboard, others) • assistance for Medicare and Social Security benefits • classes on defensive driving and other subjects of interest • travel • more!


Center also:
• Arranges for health guidance clinic twice a month at no charge. Service includes blood pressure screenings and general health questions. No appointment necessary.• Serves hot meals Mon-Fri. to those 60 and over. • Distributes monthly newsletter of events and activities. • Conducts outreach programs to assist homebound and isolated. • Monthly informational, educational, preventive programs.


Transportation Services 

Upon request, Senior Center provides free transportation to and from Center, medical appointments, grocery shopping and hairdressers on regularly scheduled basis. Call 203-239-5432 for information about this service and other transportation options.
