Senior Centers
West Haven has two Senior Centers from which Department of Elderly Services provides variety of services and activities to help residents 55 or older “enhance their dignity, support their independence and encourage their involvement with the community.”

Both Centers offer:
• Information/assistance/referral for such concerns of elderly as: applying for entitlement programs; filling out income tax forms; meeting housing needs; obtaining home-care services.
• Outreach. Home visits made to frail, isolated, homebound seniors unable to come to Centers; eligible residents can receive up to 20 hours per week of Senior Companion’s services from older volunteers.
• Nutritious hot lunch served daily. In addition to Centers, Elderly Nutrition sites include:

West Haven Senior Center has Medical Equipment Loan Closet Program. Equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes, commodes provided free to any resident in need. Small store operated to defray some of program’s cost. Donations of equipment always welcome.
