Commission is “responsible for studying the needs of elderly persons in the community relating to housing, health, recreation, transportation and acting as a liaison between the Senior Center and the community.” Meets 6 p.m. at Joyce C. Budrow Senior Center in Sept., Nov., Jan., March, May.

Senior Center
Multi-service facility offers wide range of activities throughout the day to appeal to interests of persons age 55 and over and help to meet their needs.

Center’s offerings include: arts and crafts • cultural events • exercise • dancing • movies • travel • chorus • sports (bocce, pool, shuffleboard, others) • assistance with income tax preparation • classes on defensive driving and other subjects of interest • travel • more!
Center also:
• Arranges for nurses to provide blood-pressure screenings twice a month and nutrition seminars once a month and to be available for advice and consultation on general health matters.
• Serves nutritious hot meal daily to those 60 and over.
• Distributes monthly newsletter of events and activities.
• Conducts outreach programs to assist homebound and isolated.
• Provides transportation to and from Center and certain other destinations.
Transportation Services
Upon request, Senior Center provides transportation to and from Center, medical appointments, grocery shopping and hairdressers on regularly scheduled basis. Call 203-239-543 for information about this service and other transportation options.
