Social Servcies Department:
Offers adult and family support services to residents in need through information on and referrals to a wide range of programs and services offered by public agencies and private organizations. Assists with forms and applications for services.
Provides short-term case management. Any resident in emergency situation can meet with caseworker to have specific needs addressed and appropriate referrals made. Organizes Elderly Outreach to provide services to frail and homebound residents, including “Lighthouse Keeping & Company,” a program that assists the frail elderly with light housekeeping and arranges family contacts for them. Home-site visits are made. Qualified residents must be at least 60 years old with limited activities of daily life.

Offers adult outpatient mental health services. Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Master’s-level clinicians provide assessments, crisis intervention and ongoing counseling using individual, couple, family and group therapies. Psychiatrists provide diagnostic evaluations and prescribe psychotropic medications when appropriate. Fees charged, but many forms of insurance coverage accepted.

Supportive Services for Families and Caregivers

Social Services Department’s Elderly Outreach provides support for caregivers as part of its program.

Tax Relief and Similar Programs

Assessor’s Office in Town Hall administers and implements tax exemptions for eligible elderly, disabled, blind and veterans. Staff member will take application information at an individual’s home if he or she is physically unable to come to Office.

Homebound program serves residents unable to visit library in person because of permanent or temporary impairment of vision or mobility. Driver will deliver and pick up library materials between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Thurs. once or twice a month. Call the library between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to order materials. Registration for service required.
